Hello! I created this AI money management tutor (available at www.financetutor.ai) to help my students in “Intro to money management” courses. This video explains how to use the tool and why it differs from a general-purpose AI tool.
The short explanation is this AI money management tutor is rooted in the textbook and constrains the AI to focus on just the material in the course and teach at the knowledge level appropriate for an introductory money management course. I have structured the tool to teach in a style that I have found effective with my students. Additionally, specific learning objectives based on Bloom’s Taxonomy are baked into the logic of the AI. Basically, I have given the AI an objective and that objective is to help you learn the material. For students, this is great because they’ll be prepared for exams and use this knowledge when they don’t have access to AI tools. For professors, this is fantastic because a well-designed course is structured around learning objectives and these learning objectives are imposed on the AI tutor.
This is very much a prototype and will be iterated upon. I am looking to collaborate with others on this tool and I am planning on rolling it out to other courses in the company curriculum at Oregon State University. If you decide to use this tool I am actively soliciting feedback. Please leave a comment below (or reach out to me via financetutor.ai or my Oregon State University electronic mail) and I’ll try to incorporate your feedback in the next iteration.
