The Asian Development lender has been getting innovative in its attempts to boost post-Covid recovery in Asia’s developing countries. The Innovation Hub established by the South East Asia Regional Department has been actively creating new funding instruments and models that will help derisk green financial and crowd in private sector investments.
Through the ASEAN Catalytic Green financial Facility (ACGF), the ADB has established partnerships to foster and promote a reduction in greenhouse gases, improved climate resilience, better air and water quality, stronger ecosystems and biodiversity, and better use of resources.
In this video, the Innovation Hub’s unit head, Anouj Mehta, explains how the Hub goes beyond a basic PPP framework to mobilise private capital through a ‘PIC’ model. PPP is one subset alongside funding funds (pension or assurance funds) and capital markets and commercial banks.
