Fresh money management – SkillHack 2014

The Problem: Money management is a weakness of many incoming & graduating students. The Georgetown curriculum does not adequately location this issue. We believe that Georgetown should encourage financial ownership from the very start of an undergraduate degree.

The Solution: Fresh money management, a 1-borrowing Pass/Fail seminar offered during fall semester of freshman year. In this program, students will learn how to use Excel, Quicken, & online money management management tools (e.g. Mint.com) The final project is for students to design personal budgets, which would help students keep track of their finances during their four years on the Hilltop and beyond.
